Some of you might have noticed a few new services last week. Mister Wong, Reddit, Mixx, Diigo, Friendfeed, Facebook status, Qik, Behance, Goodreads and Tumblr were all added to Secondbrain and increased the list of total services to 30. New suggestions on what to add are always welcome, but to let you see what we are planning, I’ve created a list with all the services from our roadmap.

Blogs: iWeb, Typepad, Standalone blogs (Drupal etc), Livejournal

Bookmarkservices: Google Bookmarks, Google Shared Stuff, Furl, Yahoo Buzz, Google reader starred items, Magnolia, weheartit, FFFFound, Last.fm, Newsgator, Bloglines, ipernity.com

Books: Google Books, Amazon Wishlist

Storage: Dropbox

MIcroblogs: Jaiku‚ Plurk‚ Numpa.com‚ Identi.ca

Status: GTalk, AIM, MSN, Brightkite

Music: Last.fm, iLike, Pandora, Songza, Muxtape, GarageBand (also artist version), Deezer, Myspace, Fairtilizer

The list is probably a bit messy, and we some suggestions could be missing, but I’ll try to update this post as often as possible. Right now, we are working on improved blog-import, plus some rework of the explore page and the profile page, but we always try to squeeze in a new service every now and then.

If something is missing from the list, @audungk on twitter wether you have questions or suggestions, or just leave a comment in this post. Or send an email to audun at secondbrain.com. We appreciate all sorts of feedback!

Just the other day our 10,000th user arrived on the Secondbrain scene, and we could not have hand picked a better community addition. To highlight this milestone, we also awarded Nico Del Castillo with a $100 Amazon gift certificate too. Nico responded with a very nice email in which he included a short iteration of exactly how he became the auspicious number 10,000.

Evidently, Nico works from withing social media and was following some wildfire tools* when he ran across the little SB icon. Clicking more out of curiosity than anything else, Nico was excited to see that SB is an aggregator. In Nico’s own words; “I quickly realized that SB was a social aggregator - in other words, it was a service that would make my life better and easier, and would definitely be a new window for lots of new content.”

We sent Nico the notification that he had won the Amazon gift, to which naturally Nico assumed this was a hoax of some kind. Of course it was no hoax, and now Nico is just trying to figure out what to do with the card? Anyone got any ideas? Nico has already added great content to the community, and is obviously a skilled Web networker. We are thrilled to have just such Ninja Turtle (he said it) Web warriors here at SecondBrain.

So, congratulations Nico and we look forward to great things from you in the future. As for Ninjas, Nico is quite expert at the martial arts as we learned from his great blog about page. Nico also beat us to post on the 10,000th user story by a day or two. We sincerely hope Nico finds a good use for the Amazon dollars, but if not perhaps everyone could visit his profile and offer a welcome and some suggestions!

If you have a passion for creating rewarding user experiences, speak all relevant programming/scripting languages, and have a good eye for visually engaging and effective interfaces - then you might be the next to join us on the Secondbrain-Oslo team.

At Secondbrain, we value talent, drive and startup spirit more highly than formal work experience. However, we expect that you can deliver high quality code in a dynamic, fast paced environment and that you are pragmatic and flexible enough to handle just about everything we throw at you - this is an early stage startup! You may be that extraordinary talent we are after, but of course you need to be a great team player as well:)

If you think that you’d be a great fit for our Oslo team, please send a short description of who you are and what you’ve been up to (education, work experience, accomplishments) to Lars Teigen at lars@secondbrain.com or call Lars at +47 9825 6061. We share offices with Making Waves AS in Christian Krohgs gate 60, in a charming building on Akerselva in Oslo (yes, this picture is from last winter).

Secondbrain shares office with my previous company, Making Waves. Both companies are growing, and finding a good workplace for my team has been a challenge. But today, we our new office was ready.

The past six weeks we’ve used the company cafeteria as our office. We didn’t complain because we had easy access to the coffee machine and the staff treated us with special made Vietnamese breakfast rolls if we behaved properly.

The construction workers finally finished the new office section, and Johan (in the picture below) and I moved in there today. Finally, we got proper chairs and proper desks. Though it looks a bit sterile and empty right now, there is plenty of room for personalization (as well as a few new team members).

Secondbrain is growing, and it’s growing fast. In the last few months, we’ve more than doubled our community and we are soon reaching the magic 10,000 users milestone. We are thrilled! A lot of great feedback, emails and comments have been pouring in since we released the public beta. Thank you!

How can we celebrate this? Well, a proper celebration requires some gifts. So we decided that user no. 10,000 will receive a 10,000¢ Amazon gift card (that’s $100 if you don’t want to do the math yourself)! Also, the user who invited no. 10,000 will get a $50 gift card and in addition, we’ll also draw a random user who’ll get a gift card as well.

In order to be eligiblet win, just go to http://secondbrain.com/invite and invite your friends! As soon as Mr. or Ms. 10,000 is registered, we’ll announce the winners on this blog.

We think it’s time you know them better, to learn their success stories and to show you that they are real people, with real lives, hobbies and dedicated friends.

Dedicated friends? Well… yes! We must acknowledge those friends who made it possible for The Dude Dean to become the Secondbrain Macbook Air contest winner. Without his armies of followers, the Dude Dean would probably be less successful. Of course, Secondbrain is more than a social network, but the power of the community is what makes us more influential, and Dude Dean proved this all the way.

Since he joined Dean has been actively involved in the Secondbrain community, he created interesting collections and he contributed to the growth of the Secondbrain family. Obviously, we are not the only ones who think he deserved his prize – after all it’s the Secondbrain users who voted in his favor. But what is really interesting is to learn how Dean managed to gain so much popularity.

Dean doesn’t keep his strategy a secret:

My 474 friends on Myspace, my 320 friends on Multiply, my 309 followers on Twitter, my 146 Followers Plurk, my 538 friends Iconbuffet and my 234 friends Facebook.

Obviously Dean is an active social media user, a believer and a “guru” – although the term is somehow biased. There are lessons to be learned from a fellow like Dean, and if you are looking for advice on social media marketing, he’s your man - he is an SEO/UX consultant and an SEM. Somehow this may have given him an unfair advantage over other contestants, but let’s not forget that Secondbrain is a social media service, and it is only natural for the best communicators to be at the top and to become “top Secondbrainiacs.” StumbleUpon, digg, Propeller and others function based on the same principle: the most active users, with the greatest number of followers, have the best “user karma” – a fair reward for being so active in these communities and actually helping these sites grow.

It’s not easy to become a top user in any social network. The “unfair” advantage costs a lot of time if you think about it. One may even wonder just how much time is needed for anyone to become at least popular. Ask Dean… or better yet see what he already revealed on his blog:

The real cost was social momentum: one year on Iconbuffet, four years on Myspace, four years on Multiply, one year on Twitter, one month on Plurk and two years on Facebook. All that time spent on these social networks was what won me the contest. I just had more social capital than anyone else in the running. Who knew having a giant SEO Social Media network could pay off so well?

Time and dedication made Dean a Secondbrain winner, but we think he won more than just a Macbook Air. He won friends and he won a position among our top users. With him… we won as well: more members in the community and valuable content in the Secondbrain web library.

Johan and Maciek have been busy all day sketching out the features for the next stage of Second Brain. As you can see on the walls behind them, there is lots of stuff waiting to be added into your favourite online content library.

Lots of users have been providing us with great ideas over at the Second Brain helpcenter, and we are choosing from an ever-growing list of excellent suggestions for the beta 3.

If you are missing a feature or a service in Second Brain, tell us, and we’ll try to find a way to add it. Either use the helpcenter, the feedback form, or send us an email. If you send us a postcard or a fax, we promise to out it up on our walls.

One of the most challenging task with the development of Second Brain is to choose what services to add next. There are really a lot of good ones out there, and it seems to be a new suggestion from one of the many awesome brainiacs in our inbox every day.

We’ve made a poll, so you can vote for your favourite feature, but if you’re missing a feature, let us know, and we’ll try to add it when we can.

Note: There is a poll embedded within this post, please visit the site to participate in this post's poll.
