A few weeks into the contest - lots of good people have signed up and started working on their libraries. I’m always amazed to see the variation in the content that people bring into their Secondbrains - and very happy to see that it’s not just Web2.0 that populates the tag clouds. This means that we’re able to reach different kinds of people. People like these guys:
For example, Julie added lots of content on LARP costumes (Live Action Role Play) . I had never even heard of this before. And now LARP costumes is one of the most frequent referrals from Google searches. In other words - there is not a lot of well collected content online for this topic, and people come to S|B to see Julie’s collections.
JK must be the one with the most collections in Secondbrain. I know he started early, but I’m impressed with all the effort he puts into creating his own personalized catalog on… just about everything. He has a great collection on Internet Tools, as well as lots of good links to Art resources. Check out his library, and his tags - he’s got a very broad catalog of good stuff and adds new content on a daily basis. Remember you could even subscribe to his feed or follow him inside S|B.
BS is another active user. She’s got several collections on interactive storytelling and marketing. I would also recommend her collection with content about and related to Web 2.0 - Machine is Us/ing Us? . I love those short snippets of thoughts and commentary on online developments and trend shifts.
Sigalon is from Sweden (love his picture) and has been in the computer business since the sixties. He must have like 15 blogs or something. Not sure how well we handle that for him at the moment, but he seems to have them all connected. He’s created several different collections and some of them point to other collections that he has on favs.com - one of our supported services. For example check out his collection on Energy Tech./Environ. - Articles.
So that’s just a few of the active Secondbrainers. There are many more people with good content - and I’ll make another post like this next week. If you worry about the contest and your chances since you were not mentioned here - don’t worry about that right now. I just want to highlight these people to show you how you can use Secondbrain to organize your own library and find good content in other people’s libraries and collections.
I’ll end with a tip - to make it easier for people to find you stuff - and understand what your collections are about - you should add a short description in addition to the title.

So that’s what it takes to become a top Secondbrainer! You know what I noticed recently? Many new users still struggle to learn what to do with Secondbrain, despite the clear tutorial.
I think the tutorial could be a lot better. Need to to a major upgrade on that one. I want to have video tutorials as well as a rich FAQ and How2 section. Looking at getsatisfaction.com to take care of our support infrastructure.
Ha, thanks for the recognition man. I just try to find things that interest me. I think that may be some advice I have for others that use the site. If you find something that you think is worthwhile, share it. I didn’t start out with the desire to have the biggest collection, I looked for things that I found useful and wanted to come back to when time presented itself. Second Brain has allowed me to organize resources for myself for answers to problems that I come across. So thanks for the service.

Wow, that’s my second time here, thanks guys:)
I was a huuuuge fan of Second Brain since the first release and I completely agree with JK- it’s all about organizing stuff you find on your way (though I miss mind mapping in this version). Second Brain helped me with all that mess I made when researching for my MAs. For me- it’s the missing element of the Internet that was just found.
This was actually rather enlightening to see how people are using SecondBrain.
When I first came here by request of a friend, I just thought it was another social site to connect with the many faces I’m used to seeing elsewhere. It’s nice to see that it actually has some other purposes it can be used for that separates it from others such as Twitter.
I think I have only just begun to skim the surface of the content on Secondbrain but think I should also spend some time collecting rather than just reading.
I agree with Sueblimely.. with all the great stuff that is already collected there really is no time left to make a collection of your own!
